Duxbury, Massachusetts, was settled in 1624 by pilgrims Myles Standish and John Alden and officially incorporated in 1637. Named after Duxbury Hall in England, it began as a farming village and later became a major shipbuilding center in the 18th and 19th centuries. Notable historical figures include “King Caesar” Ezra Watson, a prominent shipbuilder.

Today, Duxbury is primarily a residential coastal town in Plymouth County. It is known for its scenic shoreline and historical landmarks, such as Myles Standish burial ground and Powder Point Bridge. It offers a blend of small-town charm and rich colonial heritage.
